Recommended Links

The following links are sites we use on a frequent basis for information on the dance scene, both locally and nationally.

Goldcoast Ballroom

The best dance facility in existence. Bruce always says that if they put a shower in the bathroom, he'd have to pay rent! Goldcoast features a warm environment with a huge dance floor. Jeff and Vinny are the owners and have invested much time and love on their creation. Come experience a great sound system and a different dance practically every night. The schedule includes many group classes and you have access to some of the best instructors in South Florida here. DanSynergy, along with Goldcoast have hosted many workshop weekends with national level instructors in all dance disciplines. Many incredible talents have visited Goldcoast, including Benji Schwimmer and Heidi Grosskreutz (in photo with Jeff and Vinny to right) and Tony Dovolani.

Floorplay Dance Clubs

Beth and Bruce are the co-directors of Floorplay South Florida! Mark Traynor is the creator of the Floorplay Dance concept. Trish Berlanga was the original director of the South Florida chapter. When she decided to move away from the area, Mark and Trish approached us about taking over the dance. We accepted this responsibility and appreciate everything the Floorplay Dance Club stands for. Please visit the Floorplay site for more information, including other chapters you can visit throughout the state and Mark's special event, The Floorplay Swing Vacation!

Shut Up And Dance

Mark Smith and Sheri Harris are great members of the community. They teach many dances and help us out sometimes on Fridays before the Swingin' Fridays Dance at Goldcoast when we are away.

Sultry Swing

John Harris started his website a few years ago and has now added a studio under this name. JOhn and his partner Mary Jane have been very supportive of the community and have been regulars at Floorplay and Goldcoast.

Thumbs Up Video

Thumbs Up Video has done many productions for dance events across the country for years. Many of the videos I have shown students have been produced by this company. Please visit their site for information on purchasing event videos.

Miami Dance Magic

Miami plays host to the first major West Coast Swing event in many years when Miami Dance Magic starts on July 17th. Please click on the link for details about this event. Beth and I will be teaching at this event. Debra Lynn, the organizer has put together a power packed lineup of stars from around the country. Also note that Skippy Blair will hold an intensive week prior to the event. so please consider joining us for that as well. Please contact Beth or Bruce to purchase your weekend passes today!

SwingWorld.com

Skippy Blair has created this site for everything you would want to know about West Coast Swing.Includes info on Intensives, many great articles and much more about the dance, instruction and judging.

NASDE

National Association Of Swing Dance Events is the current recognized circuit for WCS events. At this writing, there are 12 events that are part of the NASDE circuit. These events span the entire calendar year with a rich and storied history of dancing for pros and the average dancer alike. Bruce and Beth highly recommend planning a weekend to experience WCS in its current form at these and many events around the country. NASDE pays prizes to the top performing pros in their events with a point system that keeps track of their standings on this site.

World Swing Dance Council

The World Swing Dance Council was formed to create a central location for information about the dance and events around the nation that feature WCS. The site also includes the Points Registry, which is a system used by many events to track progress through the various levels of competitors in Jack & Jill contests. This attempts to level the playing field for all. Also on this list is a comprehensive list of events around the country both large and small. The WSDC also has built a rules framework that many organizers use for many of their contests. This is a great place for dancers looking to take on some contests at events.

USA Swing Dance Network

USA Swing Dance Network is another site with a lot of info geared toward the dance community. First, it features some 20+ events with links to sites that give specific info on those events such as schedule, hotel info and more. They also include information and articles on the current TV shows and movies that feature dance. At the bottom of the main page, you can find many articles and lists regarding West Coast Swing. Among those items are lists from DJ's from around the country feauring current hot WCS tunes and even lists of classic songs!

Donna and Bruce have put together an informational site on WCS in Florida. They are from Sarasota, but make regular treks to the South Florida area. They include a calendar of events with a focus on their area, but information across the state as well for those interested in a little "roadtrippin!"
