Something To Ponder
08.15.07

As I get into this next phase of my life (Getting squashed by a truck and married seem like big mile posts to me...), I think about some of the things I have done in trying to share my love and enjoyment for West Coast Swing.

I wrestled with the idea of teaching for a long time and when we decided (Beth had joined the wrestling match by then) to go forward with teaching, we took the time to be trained by the best.

Beth and I have taken the time and committed the energy to bringing in many of those teachers we enjoy to share with our community. Since we are not financially strong enough to do this by ourselves, we have allied with others in the community to share the expense, the effort and the benefits in hosting, organizing and executing these little events.

One of the biggest allies we have is the Goldcoast Ballroom. Jeff Sandler and Vinny Munno have been willing to work with us and others to bring in many of the talented dancers from across the nation to teach and perform.

Goldcoast Ballroom is a business and just as with any other business, they must appeal to the widest range of dancers to keep their doors open. Although some interactions with West Coast Swing organizations in the past have not had results they preferred, Goldcoast has shared in promotions and events that have spotlighted WCS and the talent available that can share the joy of this young dance form.

It is my opinion that Goldcoast has been more supportive and proactive in promoting West Coast Swing and dancing in general than any specialty group regarding dance in this area. Where some organizations find the work to be too much to be involved. Goldcoast has truly been a resource of the best in dancing.

What does this mean for you, the average dancer? It means that you have one of the best locations in the United States. It means that the resources are there for you to take part in. Whether it is Jordan and Tatiana or Benji and Heidi or some of the many other talented dancers and instructors to pass through the ballroom's doors, it is all good stuff. We all have little details that would make things perfect for us, but we all must share. No two dancers will agree on everything, be it music, the floor or other dancers. However, we all want to dance. Goldcoast is a great choice to indulge that urge.
