Andrew Makowski Honored With First Perrotta-Midiri Florida Youth Swing Dance Scholarship

Bruce and I are proud to announce that we were able to award our very first Florida Youth Swing Dance Scholarship last month at Miami Dance Magic. The first award went to a very deserving young man, Andrew Makowski, from Lake Mary, Florida.
 
As we've traveled the West Coast Swing national circuit the last several years, we have watched Andrew rise up to be not only a successful dancer, but a great example for other young dancers in Florida and across the country. He is both a valued and accomplished part of the youth swing dance community nationally, as well as here in his local Florida dance community.
 
Andrew is a not only a great dancer but a good citizen on and off the dance floor. He works at Publix, while studying at Seminole County Community college. Andrew is a good student and is pursuing a career in the performing arts, acting, directing and choreographing. He also volunteers for his local dance club, teaching and choreographing and is a member of his local Optimist Club chapter.
 
"My experience with Andrew has been mostly from a distance admiring his young talent as a dancer of course, but what stood out was his polite attitude, cheery demeanor and willingness to dance with everyone and enjoy it. We've had several dances together over the past couple of years and it was always a lot of fun."
 
Andrew who is officially out of the youth division now that he is 19, has earned his way to be a WSDC Advanced dancer and recently won a contest to submit the best choreographed West Coast Swing routine. This routine will be a feature for the DVD release of the West Coast Swing movie, "Love and Dancing" choreographed and produced by Robert Royston.
 
We are sure that many great things are in store for Andrew and we are proud to have him representing Florida youth this year. We hope this small contribution will help Andrew to continue to pursue his dancing as he gets an education to secure himself for whatever his future may bring.
